For dental implant treatment, a detailed examination is required first. In a detailed examination, the volume of the missing tooth cavity, the positions of the lateral and opposing teeth, and the condition of the bone are evaluated. Initially, the bone condition is determined by panoramic x-ray. Usually, after panoramic x-ray, three-dimensional imaging (computed tomography) determines the bone density and thickness more clearly and a treatment plan is made.

Operation

In dental implant treatment, local anesthesia is applied to the area to be treated and it is completely numbed. The implant is then placed in the bone in the edentulous area. After this procedure, the closing screw or healing cap is placed on the implant according to internationally determined criteria. There are two methods of this surgical procedure: open surgery and closed surgery ( flapless ).

Açık Cerrahi

It is the conventional and most preferred method of dental implant operation. In this method, the doctor sees the bone and performs the operation. In order to see, the soft tissue in the edentulous area is removed, the implant is placed in the determined bone area, and then the removed soft tissue is placed back in place by suturing.

Kapalı Cerrahi – Flapsiz Cerrahi

Flapless is also known as the seamless method. In this method, a three-dimensional (tomography) image is taken with the mouth size of the individual and a guide compatible with the operation area is prepared by overlaying this size with the tomography image in the digital environment. The area and angle where the implant will be placed on this guide are predetermined and the implant is placed as determined without any incision. Usually no sutures are made.

Preparation of the surgical guide is an important step for the application of this method and it is important that the bone thickness is sufficient in the region where this surgical guide is made. Otherwise, if a procedure such as bone grafting is to be performed, it is not possible to perform closed surgery.

Advanced Surgical Methods

In some cases, the bone thickness or length in the missing tooth area is not suitable for implant placement. In such cases , bone augmentation procedures are performed with various applications such as bone graft, bone cover (membrane), PRF, etc. , during or before implant surgery . These conditions often cause the implant to take longer to heal.

While bone graft is applied to stimulate new bone formation, the bone cover (membrane) is required to keep the bone grafts together. These plans are determined by the doctor who will perform the operation.

İmplant Tedavisinde Ağrı

Since the operation area is numbed with local anesthesia before the implant procedure, no pain is felt. In fact, some individuals do not even realize that dental implant is placed. After the procedure, there may be mild pain that can be relieved with painkillers. After the first two days, there is usually no need to use painkillers. The type of pain may differ from person to person and according to the characteristics of the procedure.

Protez Aşaması

When the time determined after the implant operation is completed, the position of the implant in the bone and the level of osseointegration with the bone are checked by x-ray. If the conditions are suitable, the upper part of the implant is opened and the area where the prosthesis will be made is prepared. A special gingival healing cap is placed in this area. After 5-6 days, impressions are taken from this area and the prosthesis rehearsal stages begin.

In these rehearsals, criteria such as the compatibility of the prosthesis with the implant, its relationship with the neighboring and opposite teeth, the bite relationship, and the color are checked.

When everything is suitable, it is temporarily glued, allowing the individual to use it for a while.

If there are complaints, they are corrected. If there is no problem in use, the tooth is fixed permanently.
